Who is a Registered Practical Nurse:

A registered practical nurse, also known as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Practical Nurse, is a healthcare professional who has completed a practical nursing program and is registered and licensed to practice nursing care, and plays an important role in the delivery of healthcare services. A registered practical nurse completes two years of college-level education to earn a diploma in practical nursing. In Canada, the term “Registered Practical Nurse” is used in the province of Ontario, while other provinces may use different titles such as Licensed Practical Nurse or Practical Nurse.

The registered practical nurse works as a direct link between a patient, their family, their doctors, and other providers. They maintain effective and clear communication among the healthcare team. Patient care:

Our RPNs provide direct nursing care to patients, such as assess patient’s health condition, monitor vital signs, administer medication, and assist with daily living activities. They conduct assessment on patients to gather information about their past conditions, current health status, and healthcare needs. They also collaborate with other healthcare professionals to make a personalized care plan according to the client’s needs. RPNs strive to create a comfortable and nurturing environment for patients, promoting their physical and emotional well-being.

Medication administration:

RPNs job is to give required dosage of medicine to the patients on fixed time and note down any changes in patient’s condition due to that medicine. They administer the changes, effects of that medicine or also note down the side effects caused by that medicine (if any). They also educate family about the purpose, effects and possible side effects of medicine being administered on patient.

Patient and family support:

Our RPNs play an important role in patient and family cooperation and education. They provide necessary and valuable information to patients and family about the patient’s disease management, medication adherence, self-care techniques, and healthy lifestyle choices. In this way, they enable both patients and their families to actively participate in their healthcare and make informed decisions.

Record keeping:

Our RPNs make record for client’s condition, medication administered, and any changes in condition. These records serve as a vital resource for ongoing care, ensuring effective communication among the healthcare team. Proper documentation is essential for providing safe and high-quality care
